Volunteer Requirements (Mandatory Training)
Coaches Training
All coaches are required to complete the Babe Ruth Coaches training. Go to the national Babe Ruth website at http://www.baberuthleague.org/ and follow the Coaches Education tab or enter: http://www.baberuthcoaching.org/ Once you finish the coaches training, provide a copy to the NFC Senior Babe Ruth League President.
Volunteer Training and Background Checks
All volunteers (coaches or other) are required to receive background checks every 2 years and satisfy the requirements associated with the Safe Sport Act. We will be following the Babe Ruth policy on Child Abuse which can be found at: https://www.baberuthleague.org/media/314064/BabeRuthLeagueChildAbuseRiskManagementProgram.pdf
NFC Senior Babe Ruth is introducing a mandatory training program in support of the Safe Sport Act. We will track compliance and be able to produce a list showing background check compliance and training compliance.
Training Course: There are two sources for the required training - USA Baseball Abuse Training Course is recommended since it is free:
- Here is the link to the Sports Engine course: https://baberuthsafety.sportngin.com/register/form/277089265 Coaches have to sign up and get an account. (Cost is $25).
- Here is the link to the USA Baseball Abuse Training Course (free): https://www.sportdev.org/ItemDetail?iProductCode=OCAAA&Category=ONLINE&WebsiteKey=f50aacb2-a59e-4e43-8f67-29f48a308a9e Coaches have to get an account. The course takes about 20-30 minutes, with a quiz at the end. You get a certificate (attached), and the website keeps track of what courses you take, for proof of compliance. Provide your course completion info to the NFC Senior Babe Ruth President.
Background Checks: Background checks are ordered and paid for by CYA. If you are covered by a background check from another organization, please identify that you are currently covered and provide the details as we need to track that everyone is covered.
