CYA Softball follows the USA Softball rules for age grouping. Age groups are based on the child's age as of August 31 for the Fall and following Spring season. 

Girls T-Ball (ages 4 - 6)

• 10" softball (soft core)
• Hit off a tee

8U (ages 7 - 8)

• 11" softball
• Hit from a pitching machine. After 5 pitches, girls will hit off a tee

10U (ages 9 - 10)

• 11" softball
• Player pitch. After 4 balls, coach pitch (up to 4 pitches)
• Batters will strike out after 3 strikes. No walks.
• Girls can steal one base per batter

12U (ages 11 - 12), 14U (ages 13 - 14), 18U (ages 13 - 18)

• 12" softball
• Player pitch
• Regular ball and strike rules apply
• If there are not enough girls to field a 14U team, 14U will play up at the 18U level. Parents have the option of a full refund if they do not want their daughter to play up.
