CYA Tennis

Coach Doug says goodbye and thank you to CYA Tennis after 27 years

CYA Tennis

It is with mixed feelings that I end my career as a tennis professional upon the end of this Fall session of CYA tennis.

The CYA tennis program has been my greatest and most rewarding achievement in my professional career.  In 1998, the late Dave Denne, one of the best longtime supporters of CYA, approached me about taking over the CYA tennis program.  At the time, I had no idea the potential of CYA tennis.  What an opportunity that was presented to me.

We took it over in 1998.  We have averaged over 300 youth tennis players a season for the last 27 years.  That is over 8,000 children who have participated in our program!

I sincerely hope and believe that each of these children had a positive experience , and we were able to make a positive difference in their lives.   That would be the legacy in which I would be most proud.

Anna Klinker, a longtime member of my staff (and a former participant in the CYA tennis program as a child), and current girls tennis coach at Chantilly High School, will be taking on the program moving into 2025.  CYA tennis will be in good hands, and she will be sharing more about the 2025 CYA tennis program on this website very soon.

In closing, to the thousands of families who participated and supported the CYA tennis program over the last 27 years, thank you so much for the opportunity.
